Catheter

Catheters are soft, hollow tubes that are inserted into the patient's veins or arteries. The catheters allow the administration of drugs or the monitoring of the pressures in the vessels. They are often necessary for the treatment of resuscitation patients.

The insertion is carried out sterilely, under local anesthesia. Their maintenance requires sterile care.
