Scanner or computed tomography

The scanner is also called computed tomography. This is an examination that uses X-rays. The principle is to make images in thin sections of a body part. The x-ray tube rotates around the patient's body and images are obtained by computer. They must then be « read » to allow a diagnosis.

Frequently, an iodine contrast agent is used to improve their quality, it is usually injected by infusion.
